The Springs Golf Club Lake Edging and Pathways

Project background:

Profusion Instructed ATB to undertake lake edging works at the springs golf club in Oxford as part of a course improvement programme to aesthetically enhance the Golf course. These works included draining and re-shaping the lake. Installing a sleeper wall that was mounted in RSJ steels concreted in a trench around the edge of the lake.

ATB had to overcome a number of issues on site and in particular the design and build of the wall in order to get the levels correct for the most aesthetic result possible. The golf course was live for the duration of the project and thus ATB successfully delivered the scope of works whilst undertaking operatives in close proximity to the general public. Being a gold course conscientious workmanship was required in order to not cause unnecessary damage to the surrounding environment or parts of play.

Key Works:

  • Excavated and installed v-shaped trench around edge of lake and lined with HDPE lake liner, securing correctly to existing liner.
  • V-shape trench filled with concrete to required height and steel studded bases were set into the concrete in order to mount the posts on.
  • Oak Sleepers and Steel RSJ posts were cut to size on site in order to satisfy the varying heights of the wall edging and produce the best aesthetic finish.
  • Put in rebated green oak cover boards to internal face of RSJ steel uprights to both lake edgings.
