Dacorum Cemetery

Dacorum Cemetery

Project background:

ATB constructed a brand new cemetery on a 8ha site near Hemel Hempstead for Dacorum Council. It was a design and build a project that involved the erection of a maintenance building finish with flint stone facia, a large tarmac car park and an array of curved footpaths. As part of the design and build ATB had to overcome a number of drainage issues and install a large attenuation system at the perimeter of the site which involved detention basins and boreholes.

Due to unforeseen archaeological findings, there were initial delays to the works programme and increased earthworks which ATB effectively negotiated with the client in a bid to deliver a successful project.

Key Works:

  • Earthworks including topsoil strip, cut and fill contouring and grading.
  • Land drainage to accommodate Civils works and water management systems.
  • Construction of cemetery maintenance building and storage yard
  • Construction of access, 5000m2 tarmac car park and 1600m2 footpaths with a 860m2 car park extension of geo-grid cell system backfilled with gravel
  • Installation of all mains services to the site
