Job Overview

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Assistant Finance Manager to join our finance team. You will report directly to the Financial Controller and be accountable for one of our finance administrators. The Assistant Finance Manager will play a crucial role in managing the financial health of the company, which has a turnover of £12-15 million and operates across three internal departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable: Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and accuracy of transactions. Collaborate with the Purchase Administrator to manage supplier payments and customer invoicing.
  • Bank Reconciliation: Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure accurate cash flow reporting and resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Financial Analysis: Provide financial analysis and insights to the Financial Controller to support decision-making and business strategy development.
  • Internal Controls: Assist in maintaining and improving internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
  • Sales and Purchase Ledger: Carry out purchase ledger and cover sales ledger when required
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards, including tax obligations and audit requirements.
  • Liaison: Act as a liaison between the finance team and other departments, providing financial support and guidance as needed.
  • Systems Management: Assist in the maintenance and optimization of financial systems and software to improve efficiency and reporting capabilities.
  • Ad Hoc Projects: Undertake special financial projects and analyses as assigned by the Financial Controller.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a similar finance role, preferably within a medium-sized enterprise.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software, Xero and Microsoft Excel. Strong understanding of financial reporting and budgeting. Experience with Dext and Approval Max desirable.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
  • Team Player: Ability to work effectively within a team and collaborate with colleagues across different departments.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong time management and organizational abilities, capable of handling multiple tasks and deadlines.
