CAD Technician / Draftsman / Structural Design Technician
We are looking for a practical, detail-oriented CAD Technician / Draftsman to support our growing workload across agricultural, equestrian, and industrial projects. This role will focus on producing high-quality technical drawings for steel frame buildings, planning drawings and site layouts, working closely with our delivery and management teams. You will also work alongside (and potentially report into) our existing CAD technician, helping to ensure a consistent and efficient approach to drawing standards, processes, and outputs across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing planning drawings and supporting documentation
- Creating accurate site layouts and setting-out drawings
- Working from site information, surveys, and client briefs
- Liaising with project managers and external consultants
- Producing technical drawings for steel frame buildings
- Detailing structural elements to suit structural calculations / steel connection details.
- Producing fabrication drawings for individual structural elements.
- Producing materials lists/ post processing data BOM’s for procurement.
- Producing installation drawings.
- Amending and updating drawings as projects evolve
- Collaborating with the existing CAD function to maintain consistent drawing standards and ways of working
Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:
- Experience using AutoCAD (or similar CAD software) (solidworks, tekla and advance steel)
- Background in construction, agricultural, or structural projects preferred
- Understanding of steel frame buildings Removed desirable/ not essential
- Able to interpret site information and translate into practical drawings
- Detail-focused, organised, and able to manage multiple projects
- Comfortable working as part of a small team and aligning with existing systems and processes
